How the System Works
The following content contains Flash files of how the system works including the current water levels of the system.
Seawater Circulation System
Seawater is regularly circulated through the lake coming in through the Glenelg Gates and out to sea again through the Barcoo Outlet.
Stormwater Outlet System
Stormwater, mainly from the Sturt River and Brownhill and Keswick Creeks, is normally diverted to sea through the Barcoo Outlet. Occasionally high flows of stormwater may be permitted to enter the Patawalonga Lake for later discharge to the sea via the Glenelg Gates.
Current water levels
The current water levels show live information about the current levels of water and links to CCTV cameras in each part of the system.
Other links found below the chart provide useful information on tide predictions and weather warnings.
