Peake, Roby and Sherlock
Peake, Roby and Sherlock Prescribed Wells Area
The Department of Environment, Water and Natural Resources (DEWNR) is working to ensure South Australia’s water resources, including groundwater, are effectively managed so there is enough water for all users and that water is allocated fairly and equitably.
Groundwater is the only reliable source of water in the Peake, Roby and Sherlock Prescribed Wells Area, and extractions are monitored to ensure the resource is sustainably managed for communities, industries and the environment.
Have your say on the review of the extraction limit for the Extraction Management Zone of the Peake Roby and Sherlock Prescribed Wells Area.
The Department is conducting public consultation to provide the community, including all existing licensed and dry land water users, with an opportunity to comment on the options for the extraction limit for the Extraction Management Zone of the Peake, Roby and Sherlock Prescribed Wells Area.
The options available are to remain with an extraction limit of 1800 megalitres per year or increase the extraction limit from 1800 megalitres per year to 3000, 4000 or 5000 megalitres per year for the Extraction Management Zone.
Two community consultation open house forums are being held at the Peake Town Hall to talk about the possible extraction limit scenarios and their implications for community and industry.
You are invited to attend either of these forums at any time during the forum opening hours to discuss the proposed options with a departmental officer from DEWNR and to find out how to submit your feedback.
The open house forums will be held on:
- Tuesday 14 August from 4pm to 7pm
- Thursday 16 August from 1pm to 4pm
