Water Industry Bill
One of the actions of the Water for Good plan is the introduction of a single, over-arching Water Industry Act, in 2010.
On 9 November 2009 the South Australian Government released a discussion paper about the proposed Act.
The submissions received informed the drafting of a proposed Water Industry Bill. This Bill was provided for public consultation.
The proposed Bill provides the legislative framework to support a contemporary and emerging water industry by promoting efficiency, competition and innovation, while protecting the interests of consumers, public health and the environment.
We encouraged South Australians to consider the Bill’s proposals, and provide a written submission in response by the 18 January 2011.
This process will assist in further drafting and developing the Water Industry Bill, ready for its introduction in 2011.
