Information is the key to raising water awareness

Long term storage rights come into effect today

New Murray-Darling Basin water sharing rules and storage rights that allow South Australia to store critical human needs and carryover water upstream for the first time come into effect today.

Minister for the River Murray Paul Caica said in response to lessons learnt from the recent prolonged drought, all Basin states have agreed to formalise improved water sharing arrangements to ensure there is enough water available during drought to provide for critical human water needs.
