The Premier of South Australia recently announced a Government restructure, placing an even greater emphasis on South Australia’s water resource management and water reform initiatives.
Effective 1 July 2010, South Australia has a new Department for Water, led by Scott Ashby as Chief Executive.

Minister for Water Paul Caica today announced the Adelaide Desalination Plant is now expected to start producing drinking water in early 2011.
Mr Caica said he has been advised by the desalination project team that early indications are for the first drop of water to be produced from the plant in April 2011.
