Ensuring South Australia's water future
Water is fundamental to our health, our way of life and our environment. It underpins growth in population and our economy – and these are critical to South Australia’s future prosperity.
The Department for Water, launched 1 July 2010, leads the management of South Australia’s most valuable resource.
We live in a particularly dry state that is also feeling the added pressures of climate change, a harsh drought, and a growing population.
The Department will ensure that there are always sufficient and sustainable water resources in South Australia for our health, our economy, our environment and our lifestyle.
To ensure our water future to 2050 and beyond, we are putting South Australia’s water security plan, Water for Good, into action.
Released in June 2009, Water for Good outlines 94 actions to make sure our water supplies are secure, safe, diverse, reliable and able to sustain a growing population and a growing economy in a changing climate.
On a national level, we must work with the Murray-Darling Basin Authority to ensure the best possible outcome for South Australia in the delivery of the Murray-Darling Basin Plan.
This website will keep you up-to-date with all the latest water news and information.
